Writing a Powerful LinkedIn Summary

A LinkedIn membership, free or premium, is a must have for today's job seeker because head hunters are flocking to LinkedIn to recruit candidates for open positions. A significant part of the LinkedIn profile is the summary section. To get the most out of your summary don't reiterate information that is on your resume, but look for a different angle to flesh out the same background in two paragraphs. This part will take time if you aren't a wordsmith so don't be surprised or get discouraged if it takes you a couple of days to come up with compelling verbiage.

Once you have written the introductory paragraphs, choose three successes from the last ten to fifteen years of your career to showcase. Finally to round out the summary, include a closing paragraph. Let's take a look at a sample summary Linkedin you can use as a model.

James Malinchak's The Major Distinction Between Entrepreneurs And Business Owners

By Liam Martin

In my office, I have a sign that prominently says, "What is the fastest way to the cash?" The key reason I have it inside my office for me and others to see is that once I enter that office each day, there's nothing else on which I ought to be focusing. Being an entrepreneur, a business owner, a leader, as well as a coach, I should concentrate only on activities that bring money directly into my company because without that, I can't invest in what matters.

There is quite a distinction between a business owner and a business entrepreneur. The majority of business owners don't make any money since they're doing everything in the business. They are sweeping the floors. They are unlocking the doors. They're trying to get people to walk in the front door. They're attempting to write an advertisement to bring people in to the store. They're trying to make the widget to sell to the person. That is the way a business owner thinks.

An entrepreneur thinks differently. An entrepreneur thinks, "I should be staying focused on the cash. How do I generate money? Do you know the highest revenue-producing activities that I should be focusing on each day? How do you farm out everything else? My actual role as the entrepreneur is earning money. That is the only position."

As an experienced business entrepreneur, I challenge anybody who thinks their role is different to try to survive without money coming in for about a month or two. Watch how fast you realize, "Heck, everything else I am doing does not matter unless I go out and make sales towards bringing in money for my business."What I call the proper way, what I call the only way to run a business is to remain focused on activities as an entrepreneur that bring you money and make you money. Allow me to share a few things that could be to your benefit. You might like to think about the following questions whenever you're doing whatever you're doing.

1. Does this task immediately bring money in to the business?

a. Well if not, then why are you doing it?

b. Get over and concentrate on things that will bring you money.

2. If it is not directly bringing money, can it bring profit for my business within the next 1 or 2 extra steps?

a. If not, why are you doing it?

b. Get somebody else to get it done. Get an assistant to get it done. Get someone that you hired but you ought to be doing stuff that provide you with money.

Remember, when it comes to being at your desk, you shouldn't be in there shuffling paperwork around. You shouldn't be there placing stamps on envelopes. I used to do that getting started almost as much ast you have been doing. However, if you want to be considered a smart business entrepreneur and not just a business owner, you will hire somebody for a couple of bucks to do the stuff that you should not be doing. You are probably wondering why you need to invest in another person doing the little things you can do yourself. This is because most business owners do not make any money because they are not out there earning money. They are doing all of the little stuff that interferes with them making money!
