Writing a Powerful LinkedIn Summary

A LinkedIn membership, free or premium, is a must have for today's job seeker because head hunters are flocking to LinkedIn to recruit candidates for open positions. A significant part of the LinkedIn profile is the summary section. To get the most out of your summary don't reiterate information that is on your resume, but look for a different angle to flesh out the same background in two paragraphs. This part will take time if you aren't a wordsmith so don't be surprised or get discouraged if it takes you a couple of days to come up with compelling verbiage.

Once you have written the introductory paragraphs, choose three successes from the last ten to fifteen years of your career to showcase. Finally to round out the summary, include a closing paragraph. Let's take a look at a sample summary Linkedin you can use as a model.

Home Business Profits Stretch Further Than Your Modest Employee Paycheck

By Tommy Taylor

Working from home is a wonderful way for you to save money while you are making it. Think of all the things you have to spend money on just to go to work outside of your home. Transportation is more than likely one of the biggest things you are going to have to spend money on in order to get to and from work. Whether you spend money on public transportation, your own car, or even pitching in on a car pool, there is a lot of money to be saved by not having to go out of your home to work.

Just think of how much money you can save by not having to pay for gas, parking, if you work in the city, and have to pay for parking, wear and tear on your vehicle. All of this can end up making your working life a living hell when something goes wrong and you can't afford even one facet of your transportation needs. Now, think about how much money you spend on things like lunch. Most likely you get that latte first thing in the morning on your way to work, and then have a nice lunch and something for the ride home, too.

Look at how much money you are saving by being able to work from home. Your transportation requirements are you walking down the hall. No money being spent there unless you need really expensive slippers. Your latte can be easily made in your own kitchen now and that saves you a lot of money on a monthly basis as well. Lunch is the same way since you can buy food cheaper than you can go to a restaurant these days. However, you can still go out for lunch as you won't be spending as much money in transportation and other costs, so you really aren't losing anything by going out to lunch.

It is thoughts like this that many people really need to have more often which will help them see there is another option besides being a corporate puppet that spends almost as much money every day as they make. That is the goal of the companies that everyone works for, after all. They offer you just enough money to pay your bills but you won't ever get ahead that way. You will need to take these things in your own hands and run with it in order to get ahead in this world.

While you could possibly like working for someone else because it limits your responsibility, the only thing it is really limiting is your ability to live your own life. If you are fine with being a slave to a company whose owners are vacationing 49 out of 52 weeks a year, then that is your business, but to all those men and women out there that require something better in their life, then you need to get off your butt and start working towards getting your own business up and running. The faster you get it running the faster you can begin making profit, saving money on everything else, and living your life as your own boss.
